Prepare your departure

For a proper check out, please make sure to leave your room empty and follow the departure instructions in our App. Your caretaker will share more detailed information for your building a few weeks before the end of lease.

Early departure weeks before your final lease date? - Please inform you caretaker via e-mail.

  • About 6 weeks before the end of your lease you will receive a notification to report your (planned) departure date/check out date via your keyless account, to update your caretaker (and RA's) when you'll be leaving. This is a necessary step in the departure process.

In what state should you leave your room/apartment?

  • All personal items and garbage must be removed. Only the items of Lieven de Key on the inventory list remain in the room. Don't leave them in a common area too, it will be charged and disposed.
  • All your bedding from the welcome package must be removed (mattrass not included) and taken with you or disposed of in the textile container.
  • Your garbage must be removed from your room, the communal areas and hallways.
  • If you brought in furniture or other large items that don’t fit in the waste containers, it’s considered bulky waste. Place your bulky waste on the street side of the pavement after 21:00 on Sunday or on Monday before 07:00. The City of Amsterdam will collect it free of charge. If you take out your bulky waste outside these hours, you risk a fine of at least €100.
  • If you still have a set of keys, mailbox key or keyfob(tag), please return this to Lieven De Key in an envelop/faulded paper with roomnumber written in the caretaker(mailbox) when you leave, before the end of your tenancy.
  • Any violation of the above will lead to a fine; extra cleaning time is charged at least 100 EUR per half hour.

Cleaning a shared room

  • If you live in a shared room, you and your roommate are responsible for cleaning the room together. When a shared room is not clean, the cleaning costs will be divided between you and your roommate. We advise you to clean everything together before the first roommate leaves.

Cleaning shared facilities

When a shared facility is not clean, the cleaning costs will be divided between you and your roommate/neighbors. We advise you to clean everything together before the first roommate/neighbor leaves.

Inventory

  • Make sure all inventory items are cleaned, assembled and visible for inspection. Report broken or missing items at least 2 weeks before your leave.
  • The costs of dirty, disassembled, missing and/or damaged items on the day of the inspection will be deducted from your deposit. If you live in a shared room, you and your roommate are responsible for the inventory together. All possible costs are going to be divided between you and your roommate.
