Covid-19 is a concern for us all. Please read the page below carefully.

We have noticed many tenants reach out to us with questions regarding the virus. We can imagine this topic concerns you on a daily basis, especially when you share your room and/or facilities with (a) room/flat mate(s). This page will provide information on the current coronavirus measures and the importance of good hygiene and safety agreements with room/flat mates.

Please follow the guidelines as given by the authorities and the Dutch government: Dutch measures against coronavirus: basic rules for everyone

This page from the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment also provides current information about Corona-developments.

The cleaning companies are taking extra care of the contact surfaces, like doorhandles. We do also urge you to make proper agreements with each other about the use of shared facilities.

Basic rules for everyone

  • Wash your hands thoroughly and regularly.
  • Stay 1.5 meters/6 ft. from others.
  • If you have COVID-19 symptoms: stay at home and do a self-test or get tested by the municipal health service (GGD) as soon as possible. Even if you've been vaccinated.
  • Ensure a good flow of fresh air indoors.

Upon your arrival in the Netherlands – Check if you need to self-quarantine here.

You must check if you need to self-quarantine on the previously mentioned link. We recommend you check this website regularly before your departure − the travel advice can change from day to day.

We expect students to act responsibly and to quarantine and get tested if required in order to keep yourself and the people around you safe.

How to self-quarantine?

The following rules apply during self-quarantine:

  • Stay at home.
  • Members of the household must stay 1.5 metres/6 ft. apart as much as possible. This means no hugging, kissing or sex.
  • You and any other members of your household may not receive any visitors, other than for medical purposes (such as a doctor or someone from the GGD).
  • If you need medical assistance, do not go to the doctor or the hospital, but phone the doctor instead.
  • Ask other people to do grocery shopping for you.
  • You can sit outside if you have a garden or balcony.
  • Work from home. Please note different rules may apply for healthcare workers. Check the link above with the basic rules for everyone for more information.
  • Do not use public transport or taxis.
  • Avoid contact with people in at-risk groups until day 10 after your last high-risk contact. Also continue to follow the basic rules. If you develop symptoms, stay at home and make an appointment to get tested again.

As it might be difficult to find someone who will do grocery shopping for you when in quarantine, we provide several options to help you with this.

  • The ASVA Student Union has set up a buddy system so you can connect with other students from your programme during your quarantine. These buddies can also assist you with practical matters such as groceries or opening a bank account. Check out the link here.
  • ESN also provides a buddy program via this website, which can also be used when in quarantine (upon request).
  • Thuisbezorgd.nl delivers food at home.
  • Uber Eats also provides food delivery services you might find helpful.
  • Gorillas provides groceries at your door in minutes.

Don't forget to check out your university's website, they also provide a lot of information.
