** FAQ due to CORONA CIRCUMSTANCES

We try to inform our tenants as best as possible throughout their stay via the App and trust it will be most convenient and sufficient for all parties.

  • Via the App you can contact your caretaker, RA-team, studentbeheerders for questions concerning your stay.
  • For questions about your contract with us or booking a room you can contact Lieven De Key Short Stay office via reservations@dekey.nl or your Universities housing office.

A. Early departure due to Covid-19? For an early termination of your lease of 1 or 2 semesters, you need to contact the international housing office of your University!

  • Without approval from the University, Lieven De Key won't change the lease.
  • When shortening of the lease isn't approved - rent obligations continue till the end of your lease.

 

B. Please follow the departure instructions in the App of your accommodation - to know what to do when leaving your room or have left your room already. Questions concerning your check out, state of your room, can be asked directly to your RA's or caretaker.

  • Your belongings are still here, and you are not?  Contact your caretaker. Organize help from your local social network, fellow students, floormembers in Amsterdam to do the check out for you. To collect your belongings and save them for you on your behalf. So the room is empty and tidy before the end of your lease. 

For access to the room, make sure to make plan and make appointment in advance with the caretaker providing keys.

Suggestion: Organise a moving company to gather your belongings and ship them for you. This on your own expense.

 

At the end of the lease, cleaning company will remove all belongings left in a room to prepare it for the next tenant. Extra cleaning hours can be charged and deducted from your deposit. 

Lieven De Key can't be hold responsable for the savety of your belongings. 

 

C. IMPORTANT - Do not forget to deregister from the Municipality when you have left! Important in order to receive your deposit refund and local taxes.

 

D. It can happen that you received the automatic generated PayByLink for next month rent as your change of lease is not administrated by us yet. Any positive balance due to a new enddate, will be refunded with your deposit refund. 

E. Have left and thinking of coming back? Your rent cannot be reduced when not occupying the room, nor can we pause your lease to come back later. 

  • When you terminated your lease, it is not possible to undo it. And not to extend your stay with a few days, weeks or months waiting for your return.

Please contact your University if you can be offered new accommodation when returning. 

 

F. Switching rooms is no option, eventhough not all rooms be occupied due to the crisis.

 

G. Thinking of cancelling your new booking? Please contact the Housing office of your University through who you applied for housing, to inform them about your situation. They will talk you through the options.
